January 21st: A National Treasure

After a Cy Young Award winning campaign with the Tigers two years ago, and a run at a second last year, Max Scherzer has inked a new deal with the Washington Nationals, deepening an already vast arsenal of arms. Today's ZP: Sports Moment is a throwback to his days with his first pro team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, who traded Scherzer to the Detroit Tigers in a three-team deal that netted the D-backs starting pitchers Ian Kennedy and Edwin Jackson.

January 14th: The Flying Patriot

Tom Brady doesn't rush often, but when he does, it's almost always for a first down. In this epic photo, Brady vaults over the Ravens defensive line, with an eye for a touchdown. The Ravens had their hands full this past weekend as well, when the Patriots beat them soundly, 35-31. That sealed their 4th straight berth into the AFC Championship Game, and their 6th time in the last decade.

January 5th: Snow Falls

As the weather gets unbearably cold, just remember, you could always be THIS guy! A breathtaking photo of a snow-covered wall, this goes down as one of Sports Illustrated's most intense and beautiful shots from the past several years.
